It’s that nerve-wracking time of year again! Grad season is upon us, and new talents everywhere are introducing their aesthetically pleasing and forward goods to the world. One of our favourite art schools, The Royal Academy of Art, The Hague, is about to have a show, an exhibition and a publication of its own talented pedigree. In over a week’s time, the graduating students of the Textile & Fashion department will be presenting their final projects during EXPOSED 2019.
Powered by the Keep an Eye Foundation, and taking place in the former school building of De Helena for the first time, there will be two fashion shows on the 14th of June at 5pm and 8pm, with nine fashion students presenting their innovative collections. Alongside the runway show, there will be a free textile exhibition, presenting the works of five textile students, amongst visual installations by the first, second and third year students, curated by Maarten Spruyt—who’s made exhibitions for the likes of Centraal Museum Utrecht, Gemeentemuseum The Hague, and Boijmans van Beuningen Rotterdam.

On the Friday at 6.30pm, one student will be awarded the Keep an Eye Textile & Fashion award with a monetary prize of 10,000 euros towards their future studies. This lucky star will be selected by a jury consisting of Ninke Bloemberg (curator of Centraal Museum Utrecht), Christa van der Meer (Das Leben am Haverkamp collective), Maarten Spruyt and Remi Veldhoven (Textile alumnus, KABK).
EXPOSED will be accompanied by a 200-page publication created by designer Johannes Verwoerd, tutor and acclaimed artist Peter de Potter and all the students from the Textile & Fashion department—which will be free for all in attendance of the fashion show. Come along, meet the KABK debutantes of 2019, and watch this space as Glamcult keeps you posted on the festive events!
