In today’s pop culture climate of relentless people pleasing and brand-building, BEA1991 exemplifies that unique breed of creative who truly does things on their own terms—simply because there are no other fitting parameters. “If I had to represent anything, it would be the everyday human. My point is to enable myself to do this as Bea, not as someone I’ve imagined for myself” she told Glamcult way back in 2015, while floating around a gloomy beach covered in iridescent lilac body paint, a perfect vision of the most everyday kind of alien. Releasing two critically acclaimed EPs and a string of spellbinding singles, she has steadily worked her way into our hearts, minds and playlists.
Four years later, the gifts she bears to this earth are as ample as ever—her long-anticipated debut album Brand New Adult premieres on the 12th of July. To celebrate on the eve of the record’s release, tomorrow BEA1991 is gathering friends and fans (those lucky enough to reside in Amsterdam anyway) to throw an unmissable party, and we are honoured to extend an invitation. With an extra special programme, including a DJ set by Bea’s long-term collaborator and Glamcult cover star Dev Hynes, and brand new visuals from Bea herself, this is easily the best Thursday night you will attend all summer.
