Working on your summer to-do list? Last week saw the very first taste of what’s to come at B&&B this September: a dazzling reminder why this style and culture festival shouldn’t be skipped. Inviting global creatives to the heart of Berlin, online shopping venture Zalando offered a promising preview of its upcoming event.
The teaser included a thought-provoking discussion panel hosted by Dazed co-founder Jefferson Hack, inviting admirable individuals such as Dame Vivienne Westwood and top model Adwoa Aboah. Surely it doesn’t get much better than inviting one of fashion’s most audacious designers, alongside a young and empowering role model who has spoken candidly about mental health issues and intrepidly pushes forward in her fight to defy social stigmas. Other creatives who shared their insights included designer Aitor Throup, creative director of G-Star RAW, and Fergus Purcell, the man behind Palace’s popular graphics.
Chiming in with the signs of the times, the overarching theme of the festival centres on moments of brash honesty and creativity. BOLD explores ventures beyond the status quo, requiring mustered-up courage and a real attitude. From Adwoa imagining what her personal slogan-T would read—“honesty is the best policy”—to all visionaries openly discussing the flaws and pitfalls of the fashion industry, Bread & Butter’s preview championed boldness in style, character and self-expression, all the while hinting at what’s to come next September.
Promising to be bigger and better, the three-day endeavour will offer a stage to fearless ideas, including Adwoa’s self-initiated Gurls Talk. Additionally, fashion shows, workshops and a lot of forward music talent will be sure to keep you on edge. Join the BOLD ambassadors in exploring the latest of what fashion and music have to offer; our wild guess is that you’ll come back with some great discoveries.
