A must see @ Galerie Fleur & Wouter and No Limits! Art Castle
Galerie Fleur & Wouter and No Limits! Art Castle have joined creative forces to open the gates of CASTLEMANIA! The project, co-curated by Simon Marsiglia, is a unique three-chapter exhibition spread across two venues, showcasing a diverse range of artists and includes two solo exhibitions– a must-see for any art enthusiast.
As we venture into this tale, we wonder into the first chapter at Galerie Fleur & Wouter, where artists explore the imagery of castles and knights demonstrating how these themes continue to inspire contemporary artists. Who is showing you may ask? So glad you asked, cause the castle is bustling with 30 artists – yes 30. An exploration into the royal depths of fairytales, the true magic lies in the artists’ interpretation of this imagery as they address contemporary themes in an attempt to build a new castle—a castle of the future.
Now that we have made our way through the first part of this modern tale, it is time for chapters two and three to unfold at No Limits! Art Castle, located in Amsterdam’s cultural labyrinth, Sexyland World. No Limits! Art Castle is the first space in the Netherlands with no borders, meaning there are no boundaries between “outsider” artists and the the art world. The same philosophy applies to blurring the lines between art and the night, as the space is open until midnight on weekends, and between fantasy and reality. On display are two solo exhibitions: Less is Bore by Johan Vanderschelden – a posthumous retrospective offering a glimpse into the artist’s work – and Burn Them All by Jordan Roger – an investigation of pain through fairytale ceramic castles.
CASTLEMANIA is a must-see exhibit open until May 12th for those with insatiable childlike wonder seeking food for thought and candy for the soul. See you there!
