Collective resistance through electronic music
Rimbawan Gerilya
A forceful testament to resilience and unity, Letters to a Future Palestine is an uncompromising 19-track compilation that unites Palestinian musicians and international allies from SWANA and beyond. Each track opens a potent sonic universe, where cultural histories intertwine and exist in their full freedom. Take the recently released Tefla – translated as ‘a female child’. Inspired by an old Arabic poem Tefla A’rabeya, the high-powered yet intimate electronic soundscapes of KETTALYNNE and Yazzus explore ‘capacity for love found within every woman’.
Curated by Nene H and Samira, this project serves as ‘a postcard’ from a thriving, liberated Palestine, aspiring to restore the cultural renaissance disrupted over the last century. ‘It is a powerful statement against the portrayal of oppression as the sole narrative,’ writes Nene H. Hard-hitting, energetically charged, and culturally rich, Letters to a Future Palestine is an unrestrained recontextualisation of electronic music that channels collective strength.
