It’s a Cyber-Girl world
Ottolinger’s backbones – designers Cosima Gadient and Christa Bösch – have always taken a curious approach to their exploration of the weird and ‘unusual’ shapes and psyche of the woman, whilst giving new meanings to the ways in which these have been suppressed throughout patriarchal history. For their Fall ‘21 collection, Ottolinger embraces this weirdness through exaggerated silhouettes and funky accessories – from puffed-up jackets, chubby knits, inflated snowboots to sensual coil wrap details around the waist and breast.
The cacophony, yet harmonious collection blends in perfectly with the mixed-up female robot voices and apocalyptic sounds we hear during the runway show. The looks resemble a collection of simulations from the Lara Croft cyber-girl prototype, getting ready for a war. But it wouldn’t be an Ottolinger show without some funky details, like teddy bear fabrics and bubblegum pink satin kidney-shaped bags.
And while it seems like we are all getting ready for nothing, Ottolinger leads the way to the future with an exquisite army of colorful deconstructed knitwear and a playful range of textures. Ottolinger keeps us comfortable and cool in satin strapped heels, power suits and silk slinky dresses on our path to redemption. All geared up, we are paving the way to formerly known as somewhere, now known as nowhere.
