Maisie Wilen’s NYFW F/W 22 collection is our new obsession
‘Tis the season for the big technology x fashion collaboration, and Maisie Wilen’s NYFW F/W 22 collection is our new obsession. In partnership with Yahoo, the presentation was a holographic fashion show, projecting 7 foot – about 2.13 meters – tall images of digitally rendered models around the walls of the Chelsea Factory. Maisie Wilen is known for merging fashion and technology so this presentation feels nothing less than natural.
Now if you thought it couldn’t get any better, think again. The looks themselves are inspired by Monster High, yes you heard us, the doll Franchise by Mattel that bases their teenage dolls of monsters and creatures. They combine futuristic glossy materials such as vinyl and juxtapose it with more natural knitwear weaving together a tapestry of textures. Not to mention the optical illusion-esk prints and the heels wrapped in plant matter, this collection is our childhood made better. Some highlights for us include the full length sequence jacket worn by a model with pink skin and high heeled purple leather lace up boots that feel so reminiscent of the actual dolls themselves. The shoes in this collection were made in collaboration with Keds and none of them disappoint.
For those of us that did not get the privilege to experience the show it is also viewable at home through WebAR – Web Augmented Reality – here
