Eponymous brand Kiko Kostadinov has been dominating the fashion radar since it first debuted in London in 2016. This year, we have already seen from the designer a fantastical fall menswear collection coming off the 2022 high of his drop with ASICS Sportstyle and collab with Hysteric Glamour. Known for his subversive silhouettes and brash colourways, the designer is back in town, this time with Y2K dream-boats Heaven by Marc Jacobs.
Kostadinov and Heaven by Marc Jacobs have joined forces, creating a 16-piece collection, fusing the youthful glee of Heaven and the free-thinking London-grunge motifs of Kostadinov. The identities are a match, and the collection is a tribute to their identities, audience and culture. Bringing to the table both apparel pieces and an array of accessories, the criteria is giving DIY/Depop-girly with the elevation of appliquéd techniques, quirky silhouettes and knitwear intricacies.
Much like any Y2K-inspired collection, branding is key. The quintessential teddy bear that marks Heaven’s designs can be seen ‘double-headed’ and reworked, featuring on t-shirts, earrings, hair accessories and keychains. Alongside the teddy, a special mention has to go out to the Tie-up Argyle Knit Dress, with faux sleeves and rib detail, the Merino Wool screams cosy, casual, and animated every day. We also have to point out the long-sleeve screen-printing lilac tee which features a princess-line bodice, dramatic cut and artwork by Connor Beesley.
All in all, she’s a hit. And a fun reminder that Kostadinov and Heaven are born out of a playful approach to life, and too urge you to do the same. Shop the collection here.
