“How fashion can be a progressive force.”
Our love for GmbH is evergrowing; bringing innovation and invigoration with everything that they do the brand is always one to watch. This season, the Berlin-based label has taken the digital sphere under its wing, releasing their Spring 2021 collection via film as part of the ‘Rituals of Resistance’ project. The project presents us with two stunning short films, Guest on Earth and Season of Migration to the North, created by Lars Laumann and Eddie Esmail, exploring the topics of race and migration as well as LGBTQ+ rights within a fashion narrative. Bringin us those classic GmbH looks, we can see double zips, vegan leather and velvet mules, inspired by German carpenter uniforms alongside the cultural heritage of its founders, Serhat Isik and Benjamin Huseby. This is within a three-part-project for the brand, in which the dominant theme lies within, ‘experimenting with how fashion can be a progressive force’. Check out the film below!
