Challenging existing structures and changing the direction
Gender is a word that, for many, encompasses a myriad of questions, beliefs and identities. When thinking about gender – it is easy to find yourself lost within the language most commonly associated with the term, that being, words and symbols of the binary. The concept of gender, however, is elusive, explorative and interchanging, meaning a new framework needs to be built, where the conventions are dismantled and critical thought is required.
One platform, doing exactly that, is Jan Jansenwillen’s Gender*Language. A curated safe-space that offers not only information but discourse into our world. Beginning as an Instagram account, Gender*Language is expanding its sphere, holding an art and performance night at Amsterdam’s local’s hotspot, Radion.
With a programme set to de-homogenise the mind, performers such as ChelseaBoy alongside a panel with our generation’s critical thinkers: Ajsa Zdravković, Berat Bebek and Sarafina, have our hearts open and excitement high.
Get yourself tickets and down to Radion this evening for doors at 19:30. P.s we hear there’s a part afterwards with sounds from Tekna ?
