Encapsulating limitless creativity is inherent to G-Star RAW. Born in 1989, the brand have been obliterating the boundaries of denim ever since, conceiving their own vision of the future of denim *hint hint*… it’s a luxurious one. Exploring craftsmanship to another level, every detail it accounted for from the archive and beyond. Now, with sustainability and creativity at its core, the brand is ready to boost the next generation, dropping their ‘Exclusives by G-Star RAW’ collection, a showcase of their high-end flair. Inspired by the Dakar Rally (an off-road endurance event), this collection is all about hard-wearing ‘enduro’ pieces. Bold, complex and innately structured, each garment offers multiplicity; whether it be reversible features, unusual silhouettes or simply the ease of wearability. With a desert-inspired colourway, G-Star is ready to take you anywhere within the soft pastel range, blossoming alongside the very colours of spring we are currently awaiting.
Alongside this Dakar Rally-inspired fusion, we also have a clear inspiration point formed from Japanese workwear. Experimenting with the denim portion of the collection, the RAW team have taken aspects of the historically refined style, creating innovative silhouettes, including some highly intriguing trousers with a wide leg and form-fitting calf.
However, this is not where innovation nor inspiration ends. The collection is made entirely of premium fabrics with a hybrid design technique, bringing us everything and more, including a fabulous blush pink trench, inspired by 1930’s haute couture. The versatile coat is timeless to a T, constructed with double-layered fabrics, a waist belt and a statement collar. Inspired by the RAF Parka’s spearheading the worst weather out there, this is one to get you through a rainy day in Amsterdam! Whilst on the topic of coats, we cant oversee the E Bomber jacket, a loose-fitted design with a detachable hood and woven tape waist coming with zip pockets and oversized 3D sleeves. There is also an E Washed Leather Jacket, whose inspiration flows directly from Dakar, sporting a typical ‘biker’ look with a white leather contemporary twist.
There is a piece here for every day of spring, and as we enter the Y2K world we are currently infantilised by, it’s always hard to say no to a cropped bootcut jean (especially a pair with a contrasting waist/heel made up of 100% cotton denim and cotton drill) 😉 Now, we can only finish with the MOST eye-catching piece (yes, we are the drama), the E 72H lifesuit giving us archive G-Star RAW with a tapered Japanese fit. This beige boiler suit has enough pockets for 72H’s worth of trip necessities – hence the name – and boasts an elasticated collar and hems.
