Family Ties

Family Ties. A concept that evokes different signifiers in us all, and one which is deeply personal and intricately formed. Mykki Blanco takes this energy and has translated it into his latest single, featuring non-other than R.E.M’s Michael Stipe. Dedicated to Blanco’s ex-boyfriend, it is hard not to feel emotionally swept by the lyrics discussing a loved one’s inescapable battle with depression. And with that, the heartfelt video following a couple’s journey through the black and white countryside takes us quite literally on this narrative from beginning to end. The single, produced by FaltyDL is also the first time we see Mykki Blanco release a singing-only track, a first of his career and one we hope to see more of going forward!
