Silver tears drip down models’ faces into the Seine as the dining boat cruises around Paris – with the city’s breathtaking views falling secondary to XIMONLEE‘s SS24 stunning collection. A sense of drama is immediately felt through the juxtaposition of razor-sharp edges and the fluidity of barely-there airy mesh, the tension between which is elevated by the slow, sensual walks of the models as they navigate the intimate space. In tandem with unexpected tailoring, subversion of the casual and the formal, and prominent punk undertones, XIMONLEE knows how to use classical elements to his advantage. The result is an intellectually tongue-in-cheek storyline, in which rebellion hits subtly – like in the beautifully draped, see-through nude dress, gently revealing the black leather jockstrap adorned with chains and metal rings.
