Exploring the longing for togetherness and how this can be instigated through material heirlooms
Glamcult first came into contact with visual artist Bodil Ouédraogo in 2021 during Amsterdam Fashion Week, in which the multi-disciplinary artist designed a collection (that we still think about today) in collaboration with Dutch streetwear kings Patta. Ouédraogo’s work, however, spans much further than this initial introduction — as she is best described more comprehensively as a visual artist who explores the art of dressing up and the culture of clothing in her work.
As fans of not only her output but also her free-thinking creative ethos, this Friday Glamcult Store will present Ouédraogo’s latest piece: Framed Intimacy. Framed Intimacy is a multimedia installation that blends culture, video, movement, and music. As part of the Glamcult Store event, there will also be a limited edition printed top released alongside it.
Exploring and researching West African sculptures, this piece expresses the longing for togetherness and how this can be instigated through material heirlooms. By enlarging traditional sculptures, framing them, alongside turning them into wearable pieces of art, Ouédraogo creates a performance that shifts the dynamics in which we have come to typically perceive sculptures and the stories they tell. Resulting in an audio-visual research piece; Framed Intimacy find’s unique meaning in posing, bearing and positioning yourself alongside a longing to learn more about who came before.
Join us at Glamcult Store this Friday from 5 to 8 PM to experience Framed Intimacy and have the opportunity to purchase one of the exclusive limited edition T-shirts designed by Bodil Ouédraogo for this store event.
