Notions of time, the soul, and the body
Let us start off by saying, wow what a relevant collaboration. Acne Studios just dropped their S/S 22 collection in collaboration with Rotterdam’s own, Rabin Huissen. Artist, Huissen explores the notions of time, the soul, and the body – concepts that all have been called into question over the past few years. The process behind his work is quite honestly as beautiful as the art itself. Huissen sends paper prepared with photo emulsion (making it sensitive to light) along with scripts on how to engage with the paper to participants or just himself. The end result is the preservation of energy from the interactions with the paper – a very personal bodily experience. We find this really poetic – these personal bodily moments are now made to be worn publically.
The collection features 6 different garments with various prints of Huissen’s work. Overall, the clothes give us total sci-fi psychedelic vibes. Some definite highlights for us is the black zip up hoodie with pink hand imprints and the maxi pale green t-shirt dress with the relaxing abstract print.
We are looking forward to Acne Studios possibly working with more conceptual artists in the future!
