Knights of Nostalgia by Stijn Koks

Stijn Koks is launching his debut collection, Knights of Nostalgia. With bold kitsch references and sharp irony, this collection challenges the conventional boundaries of adulthood. After gaining experience through internships at labels like Walter van Beirendonck and Henrik Vibskov, Koks finally embarked on this personal project. The collection invites a playful reimagining of identity, featuring models as life-sized figurines. By repurposing materials and incorporating readymade, the collection evokes a sense of childhood wonder while merging nostalgia with contemporary design. 

The accompanying short film, directed by Jeroen Kooistra, provides a compelling visual narrative that serves as a first introduction to the enigmatic world crafted by Stijn Koks. Kooistra captures the dim-lit realm of Knights of Nostalgia, infusing it with a dark, liminal energy that feels introspective.

The contemplative nature of the video mirrors the mood of Koks’ creations, presenting the towering knight figures as they move gracefully through the space. The slowmo shots are particularly striking as they imbue each movement with a dreamlike quality. The lightning-in-a-bottle light set up enhances this effect, casting shadows and highlights that give the figures an almost mythical presence.
